Dr Visit 34 Weeks

I had my 34 week (8 month) check up and  another ultra sound  to determine if Baby O had turned.  Just as I had suspected, he is still in the Frank Breech position.  His head is on the left side near my heart, legs and arms are curled up around his head and his tushy is sitting inside my pelvis.  See the drawing below.  I told James he must really like to hear my voice and wants to hang out near me.  Even though he isn't in the proper position, he is doing very well with a strong heart beat and weighing in at 5lbs 4 oz. He is really filling out now and looking more and more like his Daddy with each ultra sound.

We met with another Dr. in the practice today and based on his observation and belly measurements, he feels strongly Baby O is too big now to make the move down.  He also feels that it will be impossible to turn him with the version process.  This Dr. was very different from our regular Dr. and was not beating around the bush with the news.  That being said, we are looking at a 99% possibility of having a C-Section.  This of course isn't the news that we wanted, but I am ok with it just as long as he arrives safe and healthy.  James and I will go back to the Dr. next Friday the 8th and I hope to have a more confirmed outline and plan of the next few weeks to come.  I have a few more weeks to get comfortable with the idea of the C - Section and who knows, just  maybe he will surprise the Drs. and do a little flip-a- roo.

On a much lighter note, we are almost done with the nursery.  We're just waiting for the duct guy to relocate the register for the heating vent and for the glider to arrive.  The room has really transformed in the past few weeks and it's pretty much ready for our little guy.  James has done a great job!  Today after the Dr. visit we stopped off and picked up Baby O a pair of tiny Converse.  His first pair of shoes!  I'm certain he will only ware these a few times, but I couldn't resist.

We will post again next week unless something pops up.

Taco Baby

Hi Everyone, just wanted to give a quick update.  I went to the Dr. on Wednesday.  It was a good visit. They just weighed me and did a belly measurement.  Belly was measuring at 32 weeks, so I am right on track there.

Right now, we are still waiting to see if Baby O is going to turn on his own.  For months he's been breach, but they think there is still time and room for him to make the spin around.  He's been folded in half like a Taco, but doesn't seem to mind!  The other night I felt him moving/turning and it was quite painful, so I really hope he did his thing.  I go in on the 28th for another ultra sound to check it out.  I really can't say I blame the little guy, who wants to hang upside down for the next 6 weeks.  I'd rather be a Taco too!  I see he's already taking after me and doing his own thing!

Googled Taco Baby and this is what I found.  Too cute!  Although, how could she move with this on her back? Very original Holloween costume. Wait, I hope it's for Halloween....

I will give another update on the 28th.  We are all doing well, just trying to shovel out after this huge snow storm.  Ok, James is shoveling, but I did make us a nice breakfast.

Baby Shower

Here are some pics taken at the baby shower last weekend.  Aunt Skye hosted the shower at her place and it turned out beautifully.  Aunt Laura did a great job getting these action shots and  more pics to come from Aunt Skye's camera.

Shower Gifts and Snow

James and I are just relaxing after a long and exciting weekend.  Miss Meg from Alabama, who use to work with me at the Hyatt , came all the way up for the shower.  We loved having her stay with us, specially Leo and Emma who got very spoiled!  Mom, Granny and Aunt Laura made it up on Thursday and we had a nice dinner at the house with Uncle Shannon, Aunt Skye and everyone Friday night.  Saturday morning we started to get snow and it snowed the whole day, but didn't seem to put a damper on the baby shower.  We are so grateful to all our friends and family who made it out to see us in such bad weather and so happy everyone made it home safely.  James and I went through all of the gifts together this morning and boy, we sure got a lot of nice things.  We are so appreciative and can't wait to see Baby O using all of his goodies.  Aunt Nancy and Auntie Anjoli, we were so sad that  you couldn't be here with us, but you were with us in thought and spirit and we know we will see you very soon.

It's a winter wonderland outside today.

The Crib arrived Friday night and Uncle Shannon and James put it together.

Auntie Anjoli handmade this adorable blanket.
Baby O's YiaYia handmade this lovely blanket

Leo so desperatly wanted to lay on it.

Emma can tell something is up and she likes all the plush blankets, clothing and toys.  Last night she tried to pull the One Z's from the gift bags.  She must have thought we had brought home a whole room full of dog toys.  If she only knew!

7 Month Bump

I am just a few days away from being 7 months.  Sure seems like it's been much longer, but at the same time it's flown by.  I am feeling good over all, just not quite as light on my feet.  Some people still comment that my belly is small. I however, don't feel that way.  This pregnancy hasn't been too hard on me yet, I'll check back in another month or so :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We had  really nice day spent with the McPherson family down in Culpepper VA.  And let me just say, there's nothing like putting enough food on your plate for 3 people and everyone says, "Hey it's ok you're eating for 2".  Only a few more months that I can get away with this!

Today we decided to get a few things for the nursery since we were sure to find some good deals (Black Friday).  Surprisingly, the mall and Home Depot were not very busy at 10am and  I was really relieved.  We picked up the closet system, a new area rug and the crib bedding.  James was so funny.  After we left Pottery Barn Kids, he looks over at me and says, "I really hate that store."  Felt like he had been taken advantage of.  They had a promotion going on, spend $100 and get $20 store credit.  Turns out, the store credit isn't valid for online sales and you have to wait until after Christmas before you can redeem it, when there's nothing left on the shelves.  So they got us!  We ended up getting what we wanted, but later I realized I forgot to get the crib skirt.  Now I am wondering if  I can just sew one.  Couldn't be that hard I'm sure.  Then we headed over to Buy Buy Baby for a great 1 one 1 lesson on crib mattresses. Who would have ever thought there is so much to do and learn before the baby arrives.

James installing the closet system and Emma and Leo and I admiring his handy work.

What a great week!

We made it back from our trip to Florida.  It was a great little getaway and then unexpectedly Shannon returned home to us.  What a great week!  He said it was a little weird seeing his little sister pregnant, but seems very excited to be an uncle again.  He's already making jokes of teaching him naughty behaviors.  I'm glad to know some things just never change!  We are so glad he's here and just in time to help welcome baby O home in a few months.

Today we went to our hospital for the grand tour and information on delivery and hospital procedures.  It was a good trip.  I can say however, the first few minutes of the tour I was sweating bullets and when they wheeled a woman who was in labor past me, I thought I might drop.  Most of you know I don't do well with hospitals and all that comes with the territory, but the longer I was there the more relaxed I became.  So don't worry about me mom!  I will make it!   The hospital is newly renovated and very nice and didn't have that unmistakable hospital smell.  So I am feeling more confident that I can do this!  After the tour we really felt like this is much more of a reality now.  We also realized there is so much left to do before baby arrives.  We are almost on the two month count down!

I wanted to post the updated nursery remodel pics.  I am getting excited, we are getting there!  James and his friends did a great job!  I still have a punch list of things for him to finish, but the major work is completed.  Poor guy never gets a rest!  We are really looking forward to the upcoming shower and can't wait to see everyone!

Love,
Amanda & James
