Update on My Eyes

I went back to the Dr this past week.  And good news is the Uveitus is 99% cleared up.  My vision has improved greatly!  I can now read books and magazines without straining my eyes.  And was able to read more on the charts this time.  So that was great news!  The only down side was that the steroid drops that I am on or either the Uveitus has caused the pressure to increase more in each eye.  I am now at a 36/26.  At first, I didn't notice it but now with the increase, I'm starting to feel achy behind my eyes and around my forehead.  I do not want to reach 40!  That is the danger zone for pressure.

The Dr. has put me on a new drop to control and bring down the pressure and a lower dose steroid drop for the Uveitus.  I go back in on Tuesday for a recheck on the pressure.  I really hope this new medication brings the pressure down fast!  There is no cure if the pressure stays up high and damages the optic never.  So that being said, I am still a little on pins and needles until I get a clear report.  I truly hope Tuesday is a good visit and then the following week as well.  Lots of trips to the eye specialist lately and looks like many more to come.  Whatever it takes to keep my vision!  Dr. P and I are becoming good friends and this last visit was a bit better.  We are starting to get each others sense of humor or lack there of, I should say. Ha!  He sees patients with this all the time so at times his bedside manner is lacking.  But we somehow manage to cover a good bit of ground and with each visit  I'm becoming very educated on the eyes and this illness.

I think we have fixed the main issue (for now anyway) and now can just focus on the pressure.  I want to be positive that this will go away soon, but I also want to remain realistic that this could be with me forever.  I saw a patients file that has been seeing Dr. P for 16 years with this condition.  Let's just say that it was larger than the Yellow Pages for NYC.  That was such a reality check!  He makes us carry our own files to the front as we check out....  So each visit it gets a little fatter.  I pray that mine doesn't grow that large!  My heart went out to the guy who has been seeing Dr. P since he was 2.  He seemed quite happy and well adjusted.  I hope to get to a better place.  I get a little depressed each time I go back.  I'm ready for a good report and clearance!
